A Series for School Leaders

The STAY Interview: Continuous Improvement

It’s not unusual for us to think we’re really doing well for our organization when we structure an exit interview. An employee is leaving and we sit down and talk with them about their experiences, good and bad. Did we just say they’re leaving? What about those that are staying? Don’t we think they have valuable advice for us as well? And don’t those employees relish the opportunity to talk to someone about the district’s strengths and improvement needs? And if we don’t do this as a school district, won’t these same employees simply tell their friends and neighbors what they think about your schools – good and bad?

American Educational Consultants can help you conduct a series of Stay Interviews. Being a third-party neutral in the school gives us an advantage. We find teachers, maintenance staff, administrators, administrative assistants, board members, parents, in fact everyone involved the school’s operation to be free, open, and sincere about what they see as the strengths and needs from their perspective.

We have our highly trained professional educators conduct the interviews, gather the information, and compile a report that provides your school district the collective views of the people who have the inside knowledge to help you know your strengths and identify opportunities for your school district to improve. Individual input is anonymous, but the collation of the interviews is quite enlightening and reliable. Isn’t that what we want to be able to brag about – that we’re good at many facets of our mission and want to improve in others?

Contact us for more information and reserve a slot for our team to do either in-person or virtual Stay Interviews with the people in your school district who have important and valuable perspectives. You’ll be happy you did!
